We reviewed the Seven Letters to Seven Churches in Revelation, showing how they relate to the Church Age and to our own lives today. We then explored the first two letters to the churches of Ephesus and Smyrna. Ephesus was a great church that did many things for the Lord – but they left their first love. Smyrna was a persecuted, poverty stricken body but they were purified by the pressure and were very pleasing to the Lord. We can learn much from the study – how to focus on loving the Lord and not get lost in doing what we think He wants, and how to bear up gracefully under pressure and not yield to the pressure of a world that is uncomfortable with unwavering commitment to Christ.
